APPLE PIE
A Short Solo Play for an Actress by
George Cameron Grant.

One woman's confession
about the life she never had.
For nearly seventy years, Margaret has lived a life defined by faith, devotion and silence.
But after attending a theatrical performance that unexpectedly awakens memories she has spent a lifetime trying to forget, she arranges to meet with the playwright in a quiet chapel garden.
There, she begins to reveal the story of a sixteen-year-old girl whose dreams of becoming a nun were shattered by an unexpected pregnancy, a desperate decision and a secret she could never bring herself to confess.
Against the backdrop of a seemingly idyllic Thanksgiving afternoon, one ordinary childhood memory becomes an unforgettable symbol of shame, loss and a life forever changed.
APPLE PIE is an intimate, emotionally powerful dramatic monologue about reproductive choice, religious guilt, the lasting consequences of secrecy and the courage required to finally speak the truth.
