LEBEN

A Full-Length Play by George Cameron Grant

LEBEN play poster showing two women facing each other across a coffee shop table on a rainy morning

Three generations.

Two women.

One choice.

On a rainy morning in 2000, Rozalyn, a nearly fifty-year-old grief counselor desperate to become a mother, shares a coffee-shop table with Ellen, a struggling 26-year-old mother facing a pregnancy she believes she cannot keep. A misunderstanding about the clinics they're waiting to enter slowly gives way to an unexpected connection between two strangers who, on the surface, could hardly be more different.

As their conversation deepens, the women are pulled into memories of their own childhoods—Rozalyn confronting the devastating legacy of her father's wartime trauma, Ellen confronting the damage left by parents whose political ideals often mattered more than their daughter. Across three generations, the choices of parents and children collide, raising questions about sacrifice, responsibility, family, and what we pass on to those who come after us.

LEBEN is an intimate drama about the wounds we inherit, the choices we make, and the stubborn human instinct to choose life, love and hope in spite of them.
